Piccolo Padre

I had been wanting to visit "Piccolo Padre" for ages. I was always attracted by its prime location and with its exterior aesthetic (even though I had never been inside). It was just a place I fancied would provide a good location for a romantic/relaxing evening. Overall, I was not disappointed. Having booked an early table, we were offered a position on the outside terrace, overlooking the sea and balluta bay, which was pleasingly active because of the local feast.

The place was full of bustle and it is quite a busy restaurant but we never had our privacy impeded. The food itself was good - nothing special, but still satisfying in portion and quality. The menu is mediterranean based, and we opted for seafood with pasta. Only the starter - bruschetta with cheese - felt a bit rushed- presented on a plastic plate and too small a portion for a plate which you're supposed to share. (one piece of bread each) The main course made up for it though!

The waiters were all courteous and the service is by far the thing I'd recommend most about the place. It is not expensive either (depending on what and how much you eat of course )

Unfortunately we skipped dessert and opted for an ice-cream during stroll down to Portomaso (which is an added plus of this restaurant..the location is superbly central and yet not smack in the middle of noisy paceville)

I'm also a frequent visitor to Piccolo padre and would highly recommend it. It's quite good value for money considering the location, sitting outside on the balcony is really nice.

My favourite is the dip platter as a starter followed by a Pizza with ruccola, parma ham and parmigiana cheese.

Your are absolutely right :) Piccolo Padre is a very good restaurant, mostly for it's good service and nice staff, but also for its great and romantic location. Try the salmon and philadelphia pizza there - my favorite! :)
