My partner and I tried this new restaurant in Marsaskala, Tal-Latini. The very first restaurant you come across when you walk from the Jerma Hotel along the promenade in the direction of the square. This small and cosy restaurant has a Maltese host and Hungarian chef. They do not have a standard menu, in that the dishes vary regularly, depending on the fresh ingredients of the day. Although the selection of dishes is very limited (since they insist on using only fresh ingredients), the menu is varied enough to satisfy most tastes. When we went they had soup, a couple of steak dishes, lamb, chicken, fish, a vegetarian aubergine parmegianata and a Hungarian pasta dish. The host also told us that the chef can prepare pretty much any pasta dish we wanted, of course, depending on the availability of the ingredients. We tried the Hungarian pasta dish, which consisted of roughly cut lasagne noodles with curd cheese, sour cream and crispy bacon. We also tried the pancakes with curd cheese as desert. The food was simple but delicious and really filling. The bill, which included aperitifs, pasta as main course, bottle of wine, one shared desert and digestifs all for 2 persons was 46 Euro. The host informed us also that on certain Saturdays they have a Hungarian night offering traditional Hungarian dishes, and on Wednesday's a ravioli night where they offer 2 or 3 different types of homemade ravioli dishes.
